A: For hard concrete, a softer bond is usually the better choice because it helps the diamonds stay open and keep cutting. In many cases, soft bond or extra soft bond is recommended for hard or very hard concrete, while harder bond tools are more suitable for softer floors.

A: Because polished concrete results depend heavily on the slab you start with. Concrete hardness, surface condition, cream thickness, aggregate distribution, previous coatings, and floor flatness can all affect scratch pattern, cut speed, and final appearance. The same tool setup can behave differently on different floors.

A: Metal bond tools are mainly used for slab opening, surface leveling, coating removal follow-up, and early scratch cutting. Hybrid pads are used between metal and resin stages to reduce scratch carry-over and make the transition smoother. Resin pads are used for finish refinement, gloss development, and final polished appearance.

A: Yes — in many jobs, hybrid pads help refine the scratch pattern left by metal tools and make the transition into resin polishing easier and more consistent. They are especially useful when the floor still shows visible metal scratches or when you want a smoother polishing workflow.

A: No. Polished concrete is easier to maintain than many floor systems, but it still needs proper cleaning, dust control and periodic maintenance. Final durability also depends on the grinding, refinement, densifier or sealer process, and jobsite traffic.

A: Not as a reliable shortcut. If the early grinding stages are incomplete, jumping too quickly into polishing pads can leave unrefined scratches in the floor and lead to weak or inconsistent results. A better polish usually comes from the right sequence, not from skipping steps.
